The Indian men’s cricket team will travel to Australia later this year to take part in a five-match Test series. The series opener of the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is scheduled to take place in Perth, and the next four matches will be played in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney.
India has won the last four editions of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 table toppers would like to get the better of Aussies once again this year and win the third straight Test series on Australian soil.
Ahead of the start of the marquee Test series, star Australian batter and former captain Steve Smith has reserved big praise for Indian star pacer Jasprirt Bumrah by calling him the best fast bowler across formats.
In a video uploaded by Star Sports X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday (September 21), Smith said, “He (Bumrah) is a wonderful bowler; regardless of when I face him, whether it’s brand new, slightly older, or even the old ball, he’s got great skills with that as well, so he’s a great bowler, arguably the best fast bowler over three formats, so it’s going to be a challenge as always.”

Bumrah has been in red-hot form these days and will be a key player for India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The right-arm pacer, who made his international debut against Australia in January 2016, missed the last Test series played between the two teams on Indian soil last year due to back injury.
He has played in a total of seven Tests for India against Australia and has 32 wickets to his name.
Bumrah on fire vs Bangladesh
Bumrah, who won the Player of the Tournament award in the T20 World Cup 2024 for dismissing 15 batters in eight matches, is leading India’s pace attack in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai. In the first innings, the 30-year-old pacer picked up four wickets for 50 runs to finish as the leading wicket-taker for the Rohit Sharma-led side.
Thanks to his four wickets, India managed to dismiss Bangladesh for 149 runs after posting a total of 376 in the first innings.
