WPL 2024: Catch the final standings for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024! Explore who topped the Orange Cap (Most Runs), Purple Cap (Most Wickets), and the overall Points Table
The match between the Gujarat Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore as concluded. The fixture saw the Giants led by Beth Mooney take the win to mark their first points of the season.
However, there isn’t much change in the race for the highest wicket-taker and highest run-scorer nor the points table. Gujarat will be happy with the win but will look to push on with more coming up in their next games.
Orange Cap (Most Runs):
Following the match, Smriti Mandhana retains her spot as the highest-run scorer in the tournament with the orange cap after she scored 24 runs off just 16 deliveries after which was dismissed by the experienced Ashleigh Gardner. She now has 243 runs in six games.
The Delhi Capitals, skipper is just one good knock behind the orange cap holder as is currently at 201 off five games and has been in good touch with the bat after leading her side to their first win at home beating the defending champions Mumbai Indians.
The surprising addition is the name of Sabbhineni Meghana who has been impressive for RCB. She has scored 168 runs, going past international stars like Elysse Perry and Sophie Devine to warrant a position at the top of the batting order.
Purple Cap (Most Wickets):
The DC spinner, Jess Jonassen retains her spot at the top of the wicket-taking charts as she has had a phenomenal start to the tournament despite only playing three games so far as she leads with 9 wickets. Radha Yadav has also made her fair share of contributions and is at second while Marizanne Kapp is at third.
Sophie Molineux also jumps to fifth on the table after she picked up just one wicket in the recent fixture to bring her tally up to six wickets in the season so far.
Points Table:
The points table also has not changed much and sees the Delhi Capitals at the top with four wins. But the Gujarat Giants who have their first points will not be far off from a spot for the play-offs as they are just a win away from breaking into the top-four.
