Veteran Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin looks excited about the T20 World Cup which begins on June 2 in the USA and the West Indies. The Indian team, captained by Rohit Sharma, will aim to recapture the title after 17 years. An MS Dhoni-led side lifted the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. Ahead of the ninth edition of the tournament, Ashwin hosted a fun-filled quiz session about the mega event for his daughters, Akhira and Aadhya.

The little girls seem to have already developed an interest in the game. They were able to answer most of the questions in the T20 World Cup quiz and Ashwin was visibly impressed.
The spin great dropped a video of the quiz session on Instagram with the caption, “We are excited for the T20 World Cup. How about you?”
Ashwin began the quiz with a simple question as he asked Akhira and Aadhya to name the hosts of the 2024 T20 World Cup. The duo quickly answered, “America and Caribbean Islands.”

Ashwin then asked, “Who is the captain of the West Indies team?” and his daughters comfortably passed this level as well. They also know who is the head coach of the Indian cricket team and took hardly a second to mention “Rahul Dravid.”
Then came a tricky question as Ashwin asked them to name the American city where the group league match between India and Pakistan would be played on June 9. He gave them four options but the girls could not guess the right answer– “New York”. Akhira and Aadhya then successfully named Shimron Hetmyer’s home nation and his birthplace as well.
The post was able to catch the attention of many Indian cricket fans, who enjoyed the light-hearted yet informative quiz session.
Ravichandran Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan was also proud of her daughters and reacted to the video with a ‘smiling face with heart-eyes’ emoji.
A fan found the T20 World Cup quiz featuring Akhira and Aadhya “so candid and sweet.”

“These kids have better cricket knowledge than some lockdown kids,” wrote a user.
Team India will begin their T20 World Cup campaign with a Group A fixture against Ireland on June 5. Before heading to the opening game, the Men in Blue will take on Bangladesh for a warm-up game on June 1 in New York.
