The decision to extend class timings has been made by the district administration in response to the severe cold conditions.

In numerous regions of Northern India, there is a noticeable easing of the intense cold, although cold waves persist in many areas. Several districts in Uttar Pradesh are still experiencing severe colds, including Agra. Currently, temperatures in Agra are not dropping and fog remains persistent. Consequently, the local authorities have adjusted school timings accordingly.

According to media reports citing the Basic Education Officer of the district, it has been announced that classes in Agra will commence at 10 am starting from February 12. This directive applies to all schools from nursery to class 12th and classes will continue at the same time until further notice. The decision to extend class timings has been made by the district administration in response to the severe cold conditions.

The chill in Agra has intensified due to cold winds, coupled with the presence of morning fog. On Wednesday, there was a slight decrease of 0.3 degrees Celsius in the minimum temperature, recorded at 8.9 degrees. The maximum temperature held steady at 23.3 degrees. The Meteorological Department forecasts fog in the district for the next 3 days, with a chance of some relief from sunlight during the day. However, the department has indicated that there is currently no indication of a temperature drop.

The Delhi government has issued an official order allowing the resumption of regular school activities in the capital. Starting from February 6, all government-aided and recognised private schools in Delhi will return to their normal schedules, citing the improved weather conditions.

According to the official notice, “Due to improved weather conditions in Delhi, all government-aided and recognised private schools of Delhi will resume their regular timings starting from February 6 (Tuesday). Heads of Schools (HoSs) are required to notify all students, parents, and staff promptly via Mass SMS, phone calls, School Management Committees (SMC) and other appropriate communication channels.”

Previously, the Delhi government had adjusted school timings to 9 AM to 5 PM due to dense fog and cold wave conditions. This decision was made after the extended winter break, which lasted from January 1 to 15.
