The National Testing Agency (NTA) declared the NEET-UG (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2024 results on June 4, 2024. According to Local 18 Bihar, a student from Saharsa named Shiv Kumar Pandit, son of Ramotar Pandit has cleared this prestigious examination. He has secured 690 out of 720 marks in the NEET exam with an All India Rank of 4907. Talking about his Other Backward Class category, he has got the 1894th rank. Shiv Kumar had to endure tough circumstances throughout his preparation as he hails from an impoverished background. His father works as a labourer and has meagre means to support his family and educate his child. He couldn’t even build a proper house for the family. Despite these hand-to-mouth resources, Shiv’s mother Manju Devi wanted to see her son become a doctor. She supported him throughout his preparation and with a determined mindset, Shiv accomplished his goal of clearing the NEET. He hails from the Manpura a small village in Mahishi Block of the Saharsa.
Shiv’s parents got him enrolled in a coaching class and he worked hard to pass the NEET exam. However, the Saharsa candidate faced a setback after he failed to qualify for this examination. Shiv was heartbroken with his failure and dropped out of the coaching institute. Despite the failure, Shiv’s teachers Chandan Kumar and Nandan Kumar showed immense faith in his capabilities and decided that he would study for free in their institution.
Shiv Kumar’s parents are delighted with the achievement of their son. His mother Manju Devi said that she is very happy now that her dream of watching her son become a doctor is nearly true. She also thanked the teachers Chandan Kumar and Nandan Kumar of Saharsa’s Pragati classes. According to her, these teachers have played an important role in making Shiv reach this stage. She added that their financial situation has been very deplorable. To help her family, both the teachers paid off their parents’ debt and supported them immensely throughout Shiv’s preparation.
In a similar incident, a student from Jamshedpur named Kahkashan Parveen secured All India Rank 1 with a perfect score of 720/720.
