Surya Namaskar, also known as Sun Salutation, is a yoga practice consisting of a sequence of twelve linked asanas, aimed at enhancing physical fitness and mental well-being. Originating from ancient Indian traditions, it pays homage to the Hindu solar deity, Surya, and is often associated with various mantras.
While the precise origins of Surya Namaskar remain uncertain, its popularity surged in the early 20th century, thanks to proponents like Bhawanrao Shriniwasrao Pant Pratinidhi and Krishnamacharya. Today, it continues to be celebrated as a holistic practice, promoting physical health and spiritual harmony.
