Flying Officer Pulkit Ratra, Son Of A Tailor, Achieves Dream Of 'Adorning Blues'
Pulkit Ratra, a resident of Jammu, fulfilled his childhood dream by becoming a flying officer in the Air Force.

To mark the successful culmination of the training of 235 flight cadets, including 22 women officers, a ceremony was held at the Indian Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Telangana. Flying Officer Pulkit Ratra is also one of them, who fulfilled his dream of adorning the blues.

Pulkit was born into an ordinary family in Jammu. His story is a ray of hope for many such youth who dare to dream of touching the heights of the sky despite difficult obstacles.

Helmed from a beautiful but tumultuous region of Jammu, Pulkit’s journey to the blues was full of challenges. His father raised the family by stitching clothes and stood by him all the time in achieving his dream. He also left no stone unturned in realising his family’s dreams. Finally, he gave a proud moment to his family by becoming a flying officer in the Indian Air Force.

Pulkit Ratra, who became a flying officer, was selected for the Air Force’s January 2023 course through NCC Special Entry. For NCC Special Entry, one must have an NCC C certificate and graduation. Also, one must have passed class 12th with physics, chemistry, and math with 60 per cent marks.

The commissioning ceremony is a wonderful moment in the life of the flight cadets who become officers. Because on this occasion they get the rank in the presence of their proud parents. In the commissioning ceremony, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary awarded the ranks and wings to the graduating cadets. The ceremony also witnessed the cadets from the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard, as well as international officers who received their wings.

In the parade, Flying Officer Happy Singh secured first place in the Overall Order of Merit in the Pilot Course. He was awarded the President Plaque and the Chief of the Air Staff Sword of Honour. At the same time, Flying Officer Taufiq Raza secured first place in the Ground Duty Officers Course. He was also awarded the President Plaque.
