The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE), has revised the HSSC board examinations 2025 to avoid a clash with the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2025 exam. The engineering entrance exam is expected to be held in the last week of January. Last year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) held the JEE Main in two sessions — in January and April. The JEE Main 2024 Session 1 was held between January 24 and February 1.
Meanwhile, as per the official notice, the Goa board class 12 examination will now commence on February 10, 2025, and conclude on February 24. It was initially scheduled to begin on February 1, 2025. The exam will be conducted for three hours from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. However, some exams will be conducted for two hours, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and a few exams will be held for an hour and a half, from 9:30 to 11 AM.
The decision to postpone the class 12th exam was taken following requests made by students and parents. “The Board has carefully considered these concerns, recognizing that JEE 2025 is expected to conclude by the end of January, leaving insufficient time for students to adequately prepare for their Board exams,” reads the official notice by the Goa Board. GBSHSE has further notified that the examinations will not be postponed even if a particular exam falls on public holidays. It also directed all its affiliated schools to display the circular on the notice boards.
In the Goa Board class 12th exam 2024, a total of 17,511 students took the exam of which 85 per cent or 14,884 passed. This includes 4,156 students from the arts stream, 5,194 from commerce, 5,736 from science, and 2,425 from the vocational stream. The pass percentage among boys is 81.59 per cent and among girls, it is 88.06 per cent. 2,725 students were placed in the improvement exam category. Bardez was the top-performing district while Dharbandora was the lowest.
