The IAT acts as the gateway for admission to the five-year (dual degree) programme for science students and the four-year BS degree programme for engineering sciences and economic sciences (offered exclusively at IISER Bhopal).

The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) has commenced the application process for the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2024 today, April 1. The IAT acts as the gateway for admission to the five-year (dual degree) programme for science students and the four-year BS degree programme for engineering sciences and economic sciences (offered exclusively at IISER Bhopal).

The last date to apply is May 13. The application correction window will remain open on May 16 and 17. The hall tickets will be released on June 1 and the exam will be held on June 9.

IISER IAT 2024: Eligibility criteria

Candidates who have passed Class 12 or equivalent exam in the science stream in 2022, 2023, or 2024 with a minimum of 60 per cent marks (for general candidates) are eligible to apply for IAT 2024. For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons With Disabilities (PwD), the minimum score requirement is 55 per cent. Each of these pathways necessitates a unique application form.

IISER IAT 2024: Application fee

The application fee for candidates applying under the General, EWS, OBC, and OBC-NCL categories is Rs 2,000. It is Rs 1,000 for candidates applying under Persons with Disabilities (PwD), persons registered as Kashmiri Migrants (KM), and SC/ST category. The application fee is non-refundable.

IISER IAT 2024: Exam Pattern, Marking scheme

The IAT will consist of 60 questions, with 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics. The total time for answering the test will be 180 minutes. Questions will be of multiple-choice type with only one correct answer.

As per the marking scheme, each correct answer will be awarded four marks. Each incorrect answer will lead to the deduction of one mark. Unanswered questions will be awarded 0 marks. The maximum mark in the IAT exam will be 240.

The tentative total number of seats available for the BS-MS/BS programme is 1933. Seats are available under the BS/MS programme at IISER Berhampur, IISER Bhopal, IISER Kolkata, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, IISER Tirupati, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, and under the BS programme at IISER Bhopal (Engineering Sciences) and IISER Bhopal (Economic Sciences).
