The Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) has postponed the State General Graduate Level Combined Competitive Exam (JSSC CGL), which was originally scheduled for Sunday, February 4, 2024. This decision was made in response to the leaked exam questions from the third shift/session (General Knowledge) section on January 28, 2024. Candidates can check the important notice on exam cancellation by visiting the official website at jssc.nic.in.
According to the Times of India, candidates from various districts, including Ranchi, expressed concerns that crucial questions had been leaked just three hours before the exam. The leaked paper reportedly contained approximately 70 questions and their answers, causing a chaotic situation.
Candidates, particularly those from Ranchi, expressed concern over three leaked questions in the General Knowledge/General Studies section. Subsequently, protests broke out in front of Ranchi’s State Library, and similar demonstrations were reported in other districts as well. The protests outside the State Library included calls for a thorough investigation into the irregularities that occurred during the exam. The candidates’ dissatisfaction was palpable, with allegations that more than half of the questions and answers in the General Study paper had been leaked.
The Commission formally cancelled the third shift examination late on Sunday night (January 28) in response to the commotion. An official statement confirmed the paper leak complaint and promised to look into the veracity of the information. The JSSC assured that a First Information Report (FIR) would be filed if the allegations were validated. It was reported that over fifty of the questions from the leaked paper were the same as those on the test.
Candidates expressed dissatisfaction with the situation and demanded a high-level investigation and the formation of a committee to look into the matter. They sought government intervention after alleging a disturbance in Jharkhand prior to the exams. The demand for a postponement of the upcoming examination, scheduled for February 4, gained traction as candidates stressed the importance of a fair and transparent evaluation process.
The commission is anticipated to provide new/revised dates for the postponed third shift exam soon, given the JSSC is under investigation regarding the purported paper leak. Meanwhile, this event draws attention to the difficulties in maintaining the integrity of competitive exams and underscores the necessity of strict measures to prevent malpractices and preserve the examination process’ credibility.
