The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued the provisional answer key of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024. The NTA has also released scanned images of the OMR answer sheet and recorded responses. Candidates who took the medical college entrance exam can raise objections against the answer key till tomorrow, May 31 up to 11:50 pm by visiting the official website at neet.nta.nic.in.
More than 24 lakh candidates took the NEET UG 2024 at 4750 different centres in 571 cities throughout the country and 14 cities outside India on May 5, 2024, from 2 PM to 5:20 PM. “Candidates are being given an opportunity to make an online challenge against the provisional Answer Key by paying a non-refundable processing fee of ₹ 200/- per answer challenged, within a specified period as indicated above,” reads the official notice by NTA.
NEET UG 2024 ANSWER KEY: HOW TO RAISE OBJECTION?
Step 1: Go to the official website of NTA NEET — neet.nta.nic.in.
Step 2: Click on the NTA NEET UG 2024 official answer key link on the home page.
Step 3: Enter the login details and click on submit.
Step 4: Your answer key will be displayed on the screen.
Step 5: Check the answer key and download the page.
Step 6: Keep a hard copy of the same for further need.
Step 7: To file objections, candidates must log in with their application number and date of birth.
Step 8: Candidates are required to pay Rs 200 for each objection.
Step 9: They can also submit representation against the OMR grading by paying Rs 200.
Step 10: Submit and take a printout of the confirmation page for further use.
NEET UG 2024: HOW TO CALCULATE PROBABLE SCORES USING ANSWER KEY?
Candidates can also download the answer key and match their answers. They can calculate the correct and incorrect answers. As per the NEET UG 2024 marking scheme, if your answer is right, students will get four marks and if the answer is wrong, one mark will be deducted. The test was conducted for a total of 720 marks with questions from physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics.
NEET UG 2024: PASSING MARKS
Students need to obtain at least a 50 percentile score to be considered a pass. For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, the minimum mark is 40 percentile. For candidates with benchmark disabilities, the minimum marks will be at the 45 percentile in the case of the general category and the 40 percentile in the case of the SC, ST, and OBC candidates. The counselling procedure will be conducted in multiple stages to allocate 15 per cent of All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 85 per cent of state quota seats for admissions into various medical courses.
NEET UG 2024: EXPECTED CUT-OFF MARKS
The agency will also release the category-wise cut-off marks, percentile ranks, and names of all India toppers and merit lists. Looking at past year trends, in NEET 2023 cut-off marks for students belonging to the general categories increased from 715-117 in NEET UG 2022 to 720-137 last year. The cut-off for medical aspirants of reserved categories including Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) also increased from 116-93 in 2022 to 136-107 in 2023. The NEET MBBS/ BDS cut-off 2023 for general category candidates was 50th, while for OBC, SC, and ST, it was 40th. Last year, Prabhanjan J of Tamil Nadu and Bora Varun Chakravarthi of Andhra Pradesh topped the exam with 720/720 marks or 99.999901 percentile.
The NTA has yet to make an official announcement on the date and time of the result. After cross-checking candidates’ feedback on the answer key, it will be reviewed and if required, changes will be made to the final answer key, following which results will be released.
