The deadline for applications to the National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) 2024 has been extended for candidates aiming for admissions to the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and the University of Mumbai-Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS). Students now have until June 3 to apply through the official website nestexam.in, compared to the earlier deadline of May 31.

This year the NEST 2024 exam will be conducted on June 30 in a Computer-based Test (CBT) from across different centres in 120 cities.

NEST 2024:Eligibility Criteria

Applicants for the exam must have obtained an aggregate of 60 per cent in the Class 12 exam in the Science Stream. However, candidates from SC/ST/PwD categories are required to achieve an aggregate of 55 per cent marks.

NEST 2024: How to apply

Step 1: Visit the official website at nestexam.in

Step 2: On the homepage, look for the Application form link and click on it.

Step 3: Register yourself by providing the required information.

Step 4: After the registration, the application form will appear on the screen. Fill in all the required information carefully.

Step 5: Pay the application fee and click on proceed.

Step 6: Download the application form and take a printout for future reference.

NEST 2024: Application Fee

General and OBC (Other Backward Classes) students are required to pay a fee of Rs 1400, whereas female candidates, People with Disabilities (PWD), and those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) categories need to pay a reduced fee of Rs 700.

NEST 2024: Exam Pattern

The NEST 2024 exam consists of 68 objective-type questions carrying a total of 150 marks. It has a duration of 3 hours and is divided into four parts: Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics.

The NEST is a computer-based exam that is conducted for admission to the five-year Integrated MSc Programme in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics at both the institutes i.e. NISER and UM-DAE CEBS.

The candidates who got selected for the MSc programme at any of the institutes will be eligible to receive an annual scholarship of Rs 60,000 under the DISHA Programme of the Department of Atomic Energy, GOI.

The board will be releasing the admit card for the NEST 2024 exam on June 15 and the final results will be declared on July 10.
