Over 3,800 Candidates Applied for 300 Mukhya Mantri Research Fellowship Test in Odisha
A total of 300 eligible candidates will be provided a monthly research fellowship grant of Rs 30,000 to pursue a PhD in the state’s public universities for 4 years

With the aim of identifying exceptional research talents across Odisha’s public universities and conducting a model test for research scholars, who do not get any fellowships from other agencies, the Mukhya Mantri Research Fellowship Test (MRFT) is being conducted by the Odisha government for the first time. The test was held to measure the research aptitude, domain knowledge, clarity/precision in communication, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking capabilities among meritorious research aspiring postgraduates across the state. Based on this, a subject-wise, as well as inter-wise merit list was prepared to award the Mukhyamantri Research Fellowship every year.

More than 3,800 candidates have applied to sit for the Mukhya Mantri Research Fellowship Test (MRFT) for 300 fellowships across disciplines, according to The Times of India. A total of 300 eligible candidates will be provided a monthly research fellowship grant of Rs 30,000 to pursue a PhD in the state’s public universities for four years.

The government asked the students to submit applications through the ‘Student Academic Management System(SAMS)’ portal and register for the test that was scheduled between December 2 and December 30. A total of 7,231 candidates registered for the Mukhya Mantri Research Fellowship Test (MRFT), whereas 3,876 candidates paid fees to participate in the test.

Under the aegis of the higher education department, the State Selection Board (SSB) will conduct this test and applicants’ data will be submitted to the board by January 26. Deputy director of the department, Rajata Kumar Mansingh shared an official letter and stated, “Date of examination will be notified by the higher education department prior to 10 days of the examination day.”

MRFT: ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

To be eligible to apply for the test, candidates must have completed their bachelors and master’s degree in the relevant subjects from a recognised university with a first division or grade equivalent in the concerned subject.

MRFT: EXAM PATTERN

Candidates can appear for the MRFT in 47 subjects. Talking about the exam pattern, the MRFT will comprise a single paper with multiple-choice questions (MCQs) that evaluate general knowledge, logical reasoning, research aptitude, subject knowledge, and analytical abilities. The test will be conducted for 100 marks in English language except language and literature subjects like Odia and Urdu for a duration of two hours.

The MRFT question paper will have two parts. The first part will carry 30 marks assessing research aptitude, general knowledge, and logical reasoning abilities whereas the second part will carry 70 marks that will test the subject knowledge as well as analytical abilities.
