A native of Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Gattu Bhanuteja Sai is among the 67 toppers of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2024, the results of which were announced on June 4. “My preparation involved studying for 12-14 hours a day,” says the 17-year-old, who scored 720/720. He completed his AP intermediate from Vijayawada by securing a score of 986 out of 1000 in his 12th grade. Both his parents are government school teachers.
“I started preparing for NEET in my 11th grade, following The Infinity Learn by Sri Chaitanya’s pedagogy. My preparation involved studying for 12-14 hours a day. I focused on understanding the concepts thoroughly and revising them regularly. I also practiced a lot of mock tests and previous years’ papers to enhance my speed and accuracy,” said Bhanuteja Sai.
Advising future NEET aspirants, he said to avoid making silly mistakes during the exam. “Many people find physics difficult, but being clear about the concepts is crucial. Repeatedly revise memory-based topics and stay focused during the exams. Consistent practice and a thorough understanding of the subjects will lead to success,” he told News18.
The topper now aspires to study at AIIMS Delhi. “I have always wanted to become a doctor. The medical profession is incredibly noble, as people place their complete trust in doctors with their lives. My desire to do something significant for people and serve the country inspired me to pursue this path and prepare diligently for NEET,” he said.
Meanwhile, students and parents raised concerns about at least 67 candidates getting All India Rank (AIR) One, with six of them being from one centre in Haryana. Of these, 44 candidates were announced toppers. This was the first time that the number of those bagging the first rank was huge, as compared to a few every year. Addressing the concerns, the National Testing Agency (NTA) late on Thursday evening said that there was complete “transparency” in the conduct of the exam and “revision of a wrong answer key as well as grace marks to compensate students for lost time at some centres” led to a high number of toppers this year.
