The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) is gearing up to kick off the UP Board Exams for Classes 10 and 12, scheduled to commence on February 22 and conclude on March 9. With an extensive network of over 7,500 examination centres spread across the state, UPMSP aims to maintain the integrity and credibility of the examination process.
This year, the board has implemented stringent measures to curb cheating and malpractice during the exams. In response to past incidents and to uphold the sanctity of the exams, the number of examination centres has been reduced compared to previous years. This reduction aims to ensure better monitoring and supervision of the examination process.
Central to the board’s strategy is the installation of high-quality closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras in all examination centres. Recent inspections have revealed deficiencies in several centres, with low-quality and outdated CCTV cameras and digital video recorders (DVRs) being installed in their strong rooms. Recognising the importance of robust surveillance systems, the board has issued a strict directive to all district school inspectors to ensure the installation of advanced CCTV cameras by February 14. Failure to comply with this directive may result in severe penalties, including the disqualification of the school from serving as an examination centre for up to three years.
Moreover, UPMSP has heightened its scrutiny of online examination centres, emphasising accountability at every level of administration. Principals, district officers and district school inspectors will be held responsible for any discrepancies arising from misleading information provided by schools. To enforce compliance, strict action will be taken against errant parties if they fail to install the requisite cameras before the deadline on February 15.
In addition to surveillance measures, UPMSP has introduced several innovations to enhance the security and transparency of the examination process. Copies of exam papers will now be numbered and include a unique security code, further bolstering efforts to prevent leaks and unauthorised access to question papers. Control rooms have been established at strategic locations, including the District School Inspector and Camp Office in Lucknow, to monitor exam proceedings in real-time.
Through these proactive measures, UPMSP aims to instil confidence among students, parents and stakeholders in the fairness and reliability of the board exams. By maintaining strict oversight and accountability, the board is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics in education across Uttar Pradesh.
