Two Mumbai Colleges Opt Out of CUET UG 2024; All You Need To Know
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to start the registration process for the CUET UG 2024 soon, by February-end.

The University Grant Commission (UGC), in accordance with the Ministry of Education (MoE), conducts a Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for undergraduate admissions to central and many other state universities across the country. This test is basically for students who have just passed 12th grade and want to apply for undergraduate courses across many state universities, deemed universities, and some private universities.

According to reports, CUET will be conducted between May 15 and May 31, 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to start the registration process for the CUET UG 2024 soon, by February-end. Now, it has been found that two colleges from Mumbai have excluded themselves from CUET UG.

The names of these two colleges are Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics and Mithibai College of Arts. These colleges will now be taking admission into their graduation courses on the basis of 12th-grade marks. Earlier, both of these autonomous colleges had decided to take admission through CUET UG. However, it was reported that these colleges opted out of CUET UG 2024 because the schedule of the entrance exam was not in line with the timetable followed by Mumbai colleges. As CUET UG will be conducted from May 15 to May 31, these two colleges had to opt out of CUET 2024.

According to a report, Mithibai College has said that admission to the graduation courses will be given only on the basis of a 12th-grade score. Now, Principal Krutika Desai said that the CUET schedule is designed more in alignment with the colleges in the northern region. She said that the academic session in North India starts in August or September, and the CUET has been made for them.

It is to be noted that over 250 universities, including central, state, private, and deemed institutions, will accept candidates based on their performance in the CUET UG examination. In order to be eligible to participate in the CUET UG 2024, candidates must have completed their class 12 level of study or must be preparing for upcoming class 12 exams in 2024.
