Space Start-up Agnikul Successfully Launches Rocket:

On May 30, Chennai-based start-up Agnikul Cosmos successfully launched its self-built rocket from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This also marked the first rocket flight from Sriharikota’s private Launchpad. The launch vehicle, Agnibaan SorTeD (Sub-Orbital Technology Demonstrator), was propelled by one of the country’s first 3D-printed semi-cryogenic engines, which the Agnikul team had developed and patented.

Hamas Approves For A ‘Complete Agreement’ If Israel Stops War:

On May 30, Hamas notified mediators that it would not participate in further negotiations amid the continuing aggression by Israel. However, the militant group informed the mediators that it was willing to reach a “complete agreement”, including the exchange of hostages and prisoners if Israel ended the war. Talks to negotiate a truce between Israel and the Islamist movement in the Gaza war have been disrupted multiple times so far. The latest Hamas statement came as Israel continued its offensive on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, despite an injunction from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the highest court of the United Nations, to halt the attacks.

Rajkot Game Zone Fire

A special panel of the Gujarat High Court on May 26 took suo motu cognizance of the fire at a game zone in Rajkot, which killed 27 people, and declared it a “man-made disaster”. The bench of Justices Biren Vaishnav and Devan Desai noted that such gambling zones and recreational amenities were established without the appropriate approvals from competent authorities. The bench ordered counsel for the Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat and Rajkot municipal corporations to appear before it on May 27 with directions on what provisions of legislation the authorities used to set up or continue to operate these units under their authority.

Pune Porsche Crash Case

The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) granted permission on May 31 to Pune Police to examine the minor allegedly involved in the Porsche crash that killed two techies. The police had written to the JJB, requesting authorisation to investigate the 17-year-old, who is currently in the observation home. According to police, the minor was driving the expensive car in an inebriated condition when it rammed into two IT professionals riding a motorbike in the city’s Kalyani Nagar area in the wee hours of May 19.

Prajwal Revanna Sent Into Police Custody In Rape Case

Karnataka MP, Prajwal Revanna, implicated in three rape cases, has been sent to police custody for six days, till June 6, by a Bengaluru court. The special investigation team (SIT) of Karnataka Police has arrested him in connection with the alleged rape of a woman who earlier worked as a housekeeper in the Revanna household. The suspended Janata Dal (Secular) will be questioned by the SIT team. The Lok Sabha MP from Hassan will be kept at the SIT headquarters in Bengaluru during his police custody.
