The Gunners' captain has reportedly agreed a deal in principle to join Old Trafford this summer.
Arsenal skipper Thomas Vermaelen is packing his bags at the Emirates after agreeing a £100,000-a-week deal in principle to move to Old Trafford this summer, The Telegraph has reported.
According to the newspaper, new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal wants to add strength to United's defensive line. However, United will have to agree a fee with Arsenal to seal the move after the World Cup.
Just one year is left on Vermaelen's Arsenal contract after spending five seasons at Emirates. The 28-year-old joined Arsenal from Dutch club Ajax. He earns approximately £70,000-a-week with Arsenal.
Vermaelen is currently with the Belgium squad in Brazil for the World Cup.
