New Delhi: Slapped with a life ban by the BCCI, the former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner is preparaing a blue print to launch a franchise-based football league on the lines of the (IPL), The Indian Express reported on Thursday.
An insider from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has told the newspaper that Modi, who is in London for the last two years, recently spoke to AIFF president Praful Patel.
Following it's Special General Meeting on Wednesday, the Indian board decided to ban the former IPL commissioner after its Disciplinary Committee found him guilty of various charges of corruption.
Modi tweeted his response shortly afterwards. "Only time will show I am right. I have no reason to be remorse about this as I got to live and create my dream. Ban not going to stop me," Modi wrote on his Twitter handle.
However, Modi has always maintained that in India there is a threat to his life. So it remains to be seen if he is willing to return to India to manage and launch the football league. In addition, Modi also faces a probe from the Enforcement Directorate.
The report in The Indian Express also said that Modi initially proposed the IPL format to the former AIFF president Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi. But after a cold responsed from him, Modi sold his dream to the BCCI.
