Barca can win or finish trophyless: Guardiola
The tactician has played down his side's sky-high expectations.

Barcelona: Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has claimed that his team have the same possibility of finishing the campaign without silverware as they do of adding to their trophy collection.

Despite splashing the cash over the summer and possessing a star-studded squad, the European champions have drawn their past two fixtures against Real Sociedad and AC Milan respectively, sparking criticism from various quarters.

"I will never promise any titles and in fact, it would be equally as normal if we didn't win anything," Guardiola said during a press conference.

"All I can promise is that the team will be recognisable."

Barca let slip a two-goal lead at Real Sociedad last weekend to draw 2-2 and conceded a stoppage-time equaliser at home to AC Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday in another 2-2 stalemate.

Yet the coach is firm that Barcelona are not going to change their offensive-minded playing style because of the draws they have suffered in their two most recent matches.

"I promise we will play like we played against Real Sociedad or AC Milan," Guardiola said. "I only hope my players behave like in the last two games."

Barca have also been hit severely by injuries of late, with Carles Puyol's return from a long lay-off being overshadowed by Gerard Pique, Alexis Sanchez and Andres Iniesta's trips to the treatment room, but Guardiola is not looking for excuses.

"Last season it was Jeffren and Bojan, now it is Iniesta and Alexis, so nothing has changed," he concluded.

The Liga holders aim to return to winning ways when they face Osasuna on Saturday at Camp Nou.
