Barca won't meet Alba asking price
The 23-year-old's buy-out clause is valued at 40m euros, but Valencia could be willing to do business at 15m euros.

Barcelona: Valencia are determined not to back down on their stance over Jordi Alba after informing Barcelona that they will not budge on their demands of €15 million (£12.1m) for the left-back, according to Mundo Deportivo.

It had been claimed that Tottenham ace Gareth Bale topped the Blaugrana's wishlist for a new left-sided player, but his €45m (£36.4m) price has forced the Catalans into looking elsewhere for an alternative.

Alba's name has consequently cropped up, and he is reportedly keen to make the move back to Barca where he started his youth career, while he has no desire to extend his contract with Los Che.

However, a transfer fee for the versatile left-back may prove to be a sticking point. The 23-year-old's buy-out clause is valued at €40m, but Valencia could be willing to do business at €15m (£12.1m).

Nonetheless, the Spain international's deal expires in 12 months' time, and, as a result, Barca are not prepared to pay more than €12m (£9.7m) for his services, despite being in an advantageous negotiating position.

Alba, who made 50 appearances in all competitions for Valencia during 2011-12, is currently with the Spain squad preparing for Euro 2012 in what will be his first senior major international championship.
