Barcelona to Part Ways With Six Players Including Sergio Roberto This Summer: Report
Sergio Roberto, Marcos Alonso, Raphina, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde are rumoured to leave Barcelona.

Barcelona are reportedly set to offload as many as six players when the summer transfer window opens. The reigning La Liga champions want to raise a significant amount of funds by the sales of those footballers. The Spanish giants are planning to make some modifications to the squad ahead of the next season. As they have been going through a financial crisis, the Barcelona hierarchy needs to determine how much money they can invest to secure some new signings.

According to several media reports, the club’s sporting director, Deco, is keen to rope in a new defensive midfielder, a left-wing forward as well as a back-up option for left-back Alejandro Balde. Barcelona may also sign permanent deals with Joao Cancelo and Joao Felix, who are currently playing on loan. Before making them happen, Barcelona will need to keep track of their expenditure and the wage cap as per the Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules of La Liga.

A recent report by Sport claims that the Catalonian side has already drawn up a shortlist of six players, who might part ways with the club during the next summer transfer window. Sergio Roberto, who has spent his entire professional career in Barcelona, may have been shown the exit door. The Spanish full-back is slated to become a free agent at the end of the season upon the expiry of his current contract.

Apart from Roberto, Marcos Alonso is reportedly confirmed to leave the club. He joined Barcelona from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. Among others, Raphina, Ronald Araujo, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde have been exploring a move away from Catalonia.

Barcelona have been on the course of finding a new manager. Their current boss Xavi Hernandez announced last month that he would part ways with the club at the end of this season. Explaining his decision, the club legend said, “We have reached a point of no return. It’s time for change. As a Culé, I think that it’s time to leave. I spoke with the board and the club today. I will leave on the 30th of June.”

Xavi, however, wants to end his managerial stint on a higher note. Barcelona are now third in the La Liga standings, eight points behind arch-rivals Real Madrid, who are sitting at the top of the table after 23 matches. Xavi’s men will return to action when they host Granada for a La Loga fixture on February 12.
