This year the tournament, Copa America will be hosted by Chile. Twelve teams have been divided into three groups of four each.

The 44th edition of Copa America or the South American championship begins its three-and-a-half week run on Thursday in the wake of the FIFA corruption scandal that forced President Sepp Blatter to announce his resignation.

Ten teams the South American Football Federation and two from the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football - Jamaica and Mexico - take part in the tournament. The winners will automatically qualify for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017.

Each team will play three games in the group stage and the top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinal stages. Two best third-placed teams will qualify for the quarterfinals as well.

The quarter-final stages will see four matches that will be followed by two semifinal matches and a match for the third place and then the final.

Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay are the favorites to win it all but you cannot rule out upstarts Colombia and host nation Chile.

Group B: Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Jamaica

Group C: Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Venenzuela
