Pune: Hosts Mumbai FC stunned Sporting Clube de Goa 2-1 to end their five-match losing streak in their seventh round I-League clash at the Shiv Chatrapati ground at Balewadi on Wednesday.

The hosts were provided a breakthrough by Ebi Sukore Thephlius, who converted a penalty in the injury time of the first half. Rojen Singh brought down Sukore inside the penalty area, and the latter picked himself up to take the spot-kick and give his side the lead.

Man-of-the-match Gbeneme Friday scored the second goal five minutes into the second half leaving the visitors, who were unbeaten coming into the match, shocked.

Victorino Fernandes' strike in the 87th minute could only reduce the margin of defeat for Sporting.

With their second win in seven matches, Mumbai FC have six points, while Sporting have 12 matches from seven games.
