Real Madrid Announces Kylian Mbappe On a Five-Year Deal Following PSG Exit
"Real Madrid C.F. and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement under which he will become a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons," read an official statement from Real Madrid.

The long wait finally comes to an end, as Real Madrid have announced that France World Cup-winner Kylian Mbappe has officially joined forces with the Los Blancos.

“Real Madrid C.F. and Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement under which he will become a Real Madrid player for the next five seasons,” read an official statement from Real Madrid.

Mbappe also broke the news on own social media accounts, as the Frenchmen shared his enthusiasm for joining the ‘club of his dreams’.

‘A dream come true, So happy and proud to join the club of my dream

@realmadrid. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support. ¡Hala Madrid!’ read the post shared by Mbappe.

The whirlwind news comes mere days after Real Madrid clinched their historic 15th Champions League title, with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

The Los Blancos are bidding farewell to a handful of legendary servicemen of the club including the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Nacho Fernandez.

But now, the much-awaited and anticipated signing of the superstar striker has finally percolated into reality.

Kylian Mbappe’s exit from Paris Saint Germain took a dark turn as president Nasser Al-Khelaifi reportedly refused to pay the young French forward the remainder of his salary.

Owing to his dissatisfaction with Mbappe’s exit, Khelaifi refused to pay the player a total of 80 million Euros, in salary and bonus. PSG also did not pay Kylian Mbappé’s salary in April and it is reported that lawyers are now involved.

“We want him to stay but he can’t leave for free. It was our oral agreement and he had expressed it publicly in an interview. So it’s not debatable. I was really shocked to learn that he intended to leave for free,” stated AL-Khelaifi.

“It’s very disappointing because Kylian is a fantastic boy, a real gentleman, and leaving for free, weakening the biggest French club, it’s not him. When I received this information, I was shocked and disappointed,” Al-Khelaifi had told Le Parisien earlier.

Regardless, Mbappe ends his career with the French side as the club’s record goal-scorer, having netted 325 goals in 305 appearances.

The World Cup winner has also nabbed 12 major trophies with the Parisians, including 6 Ligue 1 titles.

Real had also reportedly gone out of their way to garner favour with the World-Cup winner, with other reports stating that Mbappe will inherit the cherished number 10 jersey upon joining their ranks.

Why were Real Madrid so desperate for Mbappe? Well, apart from the obvious fact that Mbappe has already etched his name amongst a pantheon of football greats at his young age with even more upside to be tapped into, they have been on the hunt for a proper classic number 9 and a goal-scorer since the departure of their Ballon d’Or winner, Karim Benzema who made his way to Saudi Arabia.
