Sociedad beat Sevilla to spoil Michel debut
Coach Michel replaced Marcelino Garcia Toral at the Spanish club, who are now winless in 8 games.

San Sebastian, Spain: Real Sociedad needed two second-half goals to secure a 2-0 victory over Sevilla, spoiling new coach Jose Miguel 'Michel' Gonzalez's debut for the Andalucian club.

Carlos Vela was set up by Imanol Agirretxe for a 64th-minute opener, and the Mexico striker fed Ruben Pardo four minutes later for the second at the Anoeta stadium.

Sociedad moved one point above Sevilla, who are now winless in eight games with three straight losses. Michel, a former Spain and Real Madrid international who previously coached Getafe, replaced Marcelino Garcia Toral at the Spanish club, who are just three points above the drop zone.

Real Madrid beat Levante 4-2 on Sunday to open up a 10-point lead over Barcelona at the top of the table.

Barcelona's hopes took a big hit after losing 3-2 at Osasuna on Saturday.
