New Delhi: Russia clinched a convincing 7-0 win over Singapore on the opening day of the Hockey World League Round 2 (Women) at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on Saturday.
In the first quarter, Russia outplayed Singapore with their spirited performance and attacking moves. Nine minutes into the game, Russia struck their first goal through captain Irina Osipova. With just four minutes to go in the first quarter, Ksenia Shamina netted another field goal to double the lead.
Russia were awarded a penalty corner and Margarita Derpenkina was successful in converting it (20th minute) to take the score to 3-0. Marina Fedorova notched another for Russia through a penalty corner conversion (38th).
Continuing their supremacy, Russian Anastasiia Reviakina penetrated another field goal (47th) to make it 5-0. Marina Fedorova (50th) and Olesia Petrova (52nd) helped Russia secure a comfortable win over Singapore.
