Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom or Aquaman 2, starring Jason Momoa and Amber Heard in titular roles has been mired in controversy for quite some time now. Directed by James Wan, the upcoming film will also star Patrick Wilson, Ben Affleck, and Nicole Kidman in important roles. Produced by James Wan, Peter Safran, and Rob Cowan under the banners of Warner Bro Pictures, the American superhero film is slated to hit the big screens on December 20 this year. But ahead of the film’s release in the US, it seems like there has been much drama on the film sets involving Amber Heard, Jason Momoa, and Elon Musk.
According to a report by Variety, in mid-September when the makers of the film dropped Aquaman 2’s trailer, certain “embarrassing documents" from Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s much-public divorce trial surfaced on the internet. This created a shadow of worry for the Warner Bros Studio. Depp fans vouched to pay the court fees for the documents to get released from Heard’s therapist Dr Dawn Hughes. As per the therapist’s note, Momoa allegedly tried to fire Heard from Aquaman 2’s sets. The documents also mentioned that Momoa was intoxicated when he arrived at the shooting premises and deliberately dressed up as Depp to rile up the actress. DC, however, refuted the claims.
The therapist’s notes also mentioned that Aquaman 2’s director James Yan allegedly screamed at Amber Heard, for he was unable to post the film’s updates on social media due to the controversy between Heard and Depp. Rubbishing the rumours, a DC spokesperson said, “James is known for treating members of his cast and crew with the utmost respect and for fostering a positive, collaborative environment on set—the Aquaman films were no exception," reported Variety.
Amber Heard’s former flame Elon Musk was also involved in the matter, reports Variety. During the infamous Amber Heard and Johnny Depp court trial, former DC chief Walter Hamada confirmed that Heard was not to be a part of Aquaman 2. However, fresh reports suggested that Musk threatened to sue the Warner Bros Studio if Heard was not roped in for Aquaman’s sequel. Adhering to Musk’s warning, it was claimed that the actress was not cut off from the project.
Aquaman 2 revolves around Aquaman teaming up with his brother Orm, the former Atlantean ruler, in an unexpected partnership to stop Black Manta from executing his evil plans. Putting aside their disagreements, they try to prevent the world from being destroyed forever.
