The impending divorce of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas has dominated headlines recently. The couple announced the separation of their four-year marriage on social media. The proceedings have now taken a turn as Sophie Turner has presented a letter written by Joe Jonas earlier this year to the court that mentioned his desire to have a future together with their children in England. Reportedly, the actress claims in the recent filing that since neither she nor Jonas live in Miami full-time, the city’s court should not have jurisdiction over their pending divorce, and so she wants the case dismissed and moved to the UK.
The letter was written by Joe Jonas when he and Sophie Turner were looking to buy a house in Wallingford, Oxford, and he decided to write to the owner in an attempt to persuade the owner to sell them the $7.5 million home. As per a report by Page Six, Joe Jonas wrote, “When my wife and I decided we were going to spend more time in the UK and search for a permanent home, our (oldest) daughter expressed three unwavering requirements: having chickens, a pony and a Wendy house.” He added that while they assessed many houses in the locality, the “sight of the charming blue shutters adorning” caught their attention.
He further stated how he envisaged a life there. He wrote, “I have been completely charmed by the idea of dropping my children to school on the boat and being able to spend a leisurely afternoon cruising to the pub with friends on my very own boat.”
In the letter, Joe Jonas also mentioned what Sophie Turner’s father thought about the house. He said, “My father in law is an incredibly keen gardener, and he was suitable impressed by your vegetable garden too, a very important sign off.”
Reportedly, Joe Jonas’ letter was so moving that the seller accepted the offer and the former couple placed a 10 per cent deposit, totalling £750,000 ($914,130), on the house on July 7 which was two months prior to the announcement of their separation.
In the court filing, reportedly, Sophie Turner argued that the purchase of the UK property had been in discussion for months. Late in 2022, the duo has “agreed and committed to relocate to England.” They then left their Miami house on March 10. The actress further claimed that their daughter, Willa, was enrolled full-time in a nursery in England. Subsequently, the duo listed their Florida house for sale the same month, and the property was sold by August. The report added that a lot of the personal things were “shipped” to the UK between May 5 and July 31. Therefore, Sophie Turner argues that the divorce case filed by Joe Jonas does not stand as they are not residents in the city any more.
