Install Taktone Project File Converter. It’s a free app that converts Microsoft Project files to other formats, including XML. Here’s how to get it: Point your web browser to https://www.taktone.com/Home/Downloads. Click Download next to “Project File Converter.” Select a folder to download the file, if prompted. Double-click the file you just downloaded. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Open Project File Converter. You’ll find it in the All Apps section of the Start menu.
Click Open. It’s the button near the top-right corner of the file converter.
Double-click the .mpp file. The path to the file now appears to the left of the Open button.
Select xml – MS Project from the “Target type” menu.
Change the name of the target file. If you want to adjust the new file’s name, make your changes in the “To” box at the bottom of the app.
Click Save As. A list of files and folders will appear.
Select a folder and click Save. The conversion will take place. When complete, the .xml version of the Project file will be present in the selected folder.
