View your transaction history.
Log in to your account to track the status of your order. Head to the login page on the MoneyGram website, then select “Transaction History.” From there, you can view the order you submitted and check on its status. To log in to your MoneyGram account, visit Moneygram.com and click “Log In.” To check your account on your phone, download the MoneyGram app on the Google Play Store or the iOS app store. Most MoneyGram orders take 2 weeks to get to the recipient. If it’s been less than 2 weeks, it’s likely that your money order is still in the mail.
Use a reference number if you don’t have an account.
A reference number tracks your order without an account. MoneyGram doesn’t require you to have an active account to use its services. If you didn’t make an account, go to MoneyGram’s homepage and enter in the reference or authorization number for the transaction. Type in your last name, then hit enter. To enter in your reference number, go to Moneygram.com and select “Track & Receive.” If you are the receiver (and not the sender), contact the person who is sending you money to get the reference number.
Request your money order info online.
Use the money order serial number to check on its status. If you have a physical copy of your money order, visit Moneygram’s website and enter in the serial number and the dollar amount. Click on “check status” to see if your money order has been processed yet. The serial number is the 10 or 11 digit number on the left side of the money order form, just below the date. When you enter the serial number, do not include any letters.
Contact MoneyGram at 1-800-542-3590.
Call MoneyGram customer service for additional support. You can check to see if your transfer was received, or you can track its status. Be sure to have your reference number on-hand to give it to the customer service rep. You may also need to enter the amount of money being sent in an automated prompt.
Visit a MoneyGram location.
Head to a physical location to see if your money order is ready. If you are expecting a physical MoneyGram order (meaning it wasn’t sent directly to your bank account), bring a valid ID and your reference number with you. There, you can check on the status of your transfer and pick up your money order if it’s ready. To find a MoneyGram location near you, visit MoneyGram’s Locations page. If your order has not been processed yet, you will not be able to pick up your money order. Typically, it takes 2 to 3 days for an order to be processed.
Submit a replacement request for lost money orders.
Request a replacement online as a last resort. MoneyGram offers to replace your money order if it’s been misplaced. Head to the MoneyGram website and check on the status of your order to see if it’s eligible for replacement. If it is, you can request a replacement on their website. MoneyGram will process your request within 7 to 10 days. To start the replacement process, visit Moneygram.com and enter in the serial number from your money order. You may have to pay a small fee for a replacement. Usually, it’s around $15.
Contact your bank if there’s a hold on your money order.
Banks will sometimes put a hold on deposits to your account. If your money order has been deposited in your account but you can’t access the funds, it’s likely because of your financial institution. Contact your bank to check on the status of your order and to see why it’s been put on hold. Financial institutions can delay processing money orders for a day or more due to internal policy or currency conversion.
Report fraud on MoneyGram’s website.
If you’ve been scammed or hacked, report it right away. Sometimes, people use money orders to steal from others or take their hard-earned cash. Head to MoneyGram’s contact page and select “Report Fraud,” then send them a detailed message explaining what’s going on with your account. To report fraud or a scam, visit MoneyGram’s contact page. For additional help, call MoneyGram’s fraud line at 1-800-926-9400.
