Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty starrer action spy film Agent has been making headlines for a long time for its OTT release. Meanwhile, according to the latest reports, the OTT release date of the film has been postponed once again, which has created a stir on the internet.
Earlier, it was announced that the film is all set to debut on the OTT platform Sony LIV on September 29. SonyLIV is said to have paid Rs 11 crore for the OTT rights of Agent. But as per recent reports, it has faced a new hurdle. The court has now put a stop to the OTT streaming of the movie because of a financial issue between the producer and distributor.
Reports suggest Vizag Distributor Battula Satyanarayana has approached the court, claiming that producer Anil Sunkara cheated him in the matter of distribution. He filed a complaint in the Hyderabad City Civil Court in this regard. So, only after the hearing of the case, the new release date will be finalised.
Earlier also Agent faced a lot of obstacles. Even though the filming started before COVID-19, the shooting was delayed a lot due to the pandemic and after many delays, and finally, it hit theatres on April 28. It also turned out to be a terrible disaster at the box office. The movie was said to have been made on a budget of Rs 65 crore and collected only Rs 13 crore.
Agent is directed by Surender Reddy and written by Vakkantham Vamsi. It stars Akhil Akkineni and Mammootty in the pivotal roles, along with Dino Morea, Sakshi Vaidya and Vikramjeet Virk in the important roles. The movie marks the debut of Sakshi Vaidya and Dino Morea in Telugu cinema.
The film was announced in September 2020. The main shooting of the film took place in Hyderabad, Budapest, Visakhapatnam and Manali. The music rights to the film are owned by Lahari Music and T Series. The music for the film is composed by the Tamil musical duo Hiphop Tamizha.
