HYDERABAD: Senior BJP leader Bandaru Dattatreya has demanded that the government convene an allparty meeting to discuss the drought situation in the state.
Speaking to reporters at the BJP office on Sunday, he alleged that though 800 mandals in the state were reeling under severe drought, the Congress government had not announced any concrete relief measures. Small and tenant farmers in the state are a worried lot due to lack of minimum support price for their produce. He demanded that the government announce Rs 1,000 crore special package for the droughthit farmers. He also demanded payment of a compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre for cotton and Rs 10,000 per acre for paddy to droughthit farmers.
