VELLORE: A man involved in 30 burglary incidents was held and 106 sovereigns of gold jewellery was retrieved from him in Tiruppathur on Tuesday. Following complaints of burglary in Jolarpet, Tiruppathur and Kandhili areas, Vellore SP Kayalvizhi formed a special team to nab the culprit.On Tuesday night, a  patrol team led by Tiruvannamalai taluk police held enquires with a suspected person. It was revealed that his name was Deva (23), alias Devaraj. He confessed that he along with his brother Sakthi (25) were involved in 30 burglary incidents and looted around 150 sovereigns of gold jewellery.Following this, he was arrested and 106 sovereigns of jewellery was retrieved from him. The cops are on the lookout for his brother.Two Caught While StealingTwo persons were caught red-handed while attempting to steal.Sathishkumar(32) of SIPCOT in Ranipet, owner of a  petty shop in the same area, closed the shop as usual on Monday night. However, SIPCOT police patrolling the area on Tuesday morning, found a person trying to open the shop for stealing.On seeing the cops, the youth tried to escape but was caught and enquiries with him revealed that he was Ganesan (26) of Makhan area in Vellore. Police filed a case and arrested him.In a similar incident,on Tuesday, Kumar of Papathimalai village in Villupuram district was caught red-handed by the owner of the house, Manavalam, when he was coming out of a house located in Velayambakkam village in Tiruvannamalai, after looting.They caught him and handed over to the Thachampattu police, who filed a case in this connection.Man Hit by Train, Dies A 20-year-old youth was killed while crossing the railway track near Arakkonam on Tuesday.Padmanabhan(20) of Chinnakaiyanur village near Arakkonam was a labourer. When he was crossing the railway track at the Arakkonam-Tiruttani route near Mangammapettai, he was hit by a train that passed en route.Arakkonam railway police have registered a case.Gas Agency Employee Held for Duping CustomersResidents of Sathuvachari lodged a complaint at the Sathuvachari police station on Wednesday alleging that the employee of a private gas agency in Sathuvachari had cheated them after taking their old LPG cylinder and the amount for the new cylinder without exchanging the refilled cylinder.The residents said that Udhaykumar, an employee of a gas agency, along with two friends had approached them and had taken their old cylinder and the amount for the refilled cylinder. When asked about the refilled cylinder, he said that he had kept it in a common place and would bring it, but he never turned up. They also stated that Udhaykumar had looted 50 cylinders and amount for 50 refilled cylinders.Sathuvachari police filed a case and are questioning Udhaykumar in this regard. The cops are on the lookout for his accomplices.Burglar Held in VelloreOne person was arrested in a burglary case in Vellore, on Tuesday. Sathuvachari police while on night patrolling on Tuesday held enquires with a person on the grounds of suspicion. It was revealed that his name is Ayyanar (23) alias Mathay of Virudhunagar district and he was involved in a burglary incident at Sathishkumar’s house in Sriramnagar in Sathuvachari on December 16. Four persons had allegedly gained entry into the house and snatched 15 sovereigns of gold jewellery from Sathishkumar’s wife. Sathuvachari police have filed a case in this connection and have arrested him. The cops are on the lookout for three more persons involved in the crime.
