10-year-old female elephant found dead near Corbett Tiger Reserve

A 10-year old female elephant was found dead in a field close to the Corbett Tiger Reserve in Nainital district, a forest official said.

The elephant was found dead on Tuesday evening in a field at Himmatpur Dauntiyal village of Ramnagar subdivision, park warden of Corbett Tiger Reserve SC Upadhyay said.

Prima facie it appears that the elephant was electrocuted, he said, adding, an autopsy is being conducted.
