1,350 PDOs job planned

DAVANGERE: "The state government is going to recruit 1,350 Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs), 176 Executive Officers and 600 engineers to the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department of the state," said RDP Minister Jagadish Shettar.
He said that the RDP Department did not have its own cadre and recruitment rules (C R rules), hence officers from other departments worked on deputation, and after he became Minister, he got the C R rule implemented and started recruitment of staff for the department. There are 5,627 gram panchayats in the state, and in the first phase, 2,500 PDOs were recruited directly and another 1,350 will be recruited through KPSC, he said, while the remaining 1,777 posts will be filled up through promotions.
