BANGALORE: The Bangalore University Syndicate has approved disaffiliation of 16 colleges in the city for failing to fulfil the university norms, sources confirmed on Thursday. However, the university officials have not released the list of colleges that have been disaffiliated but is expected to do so before students join these colleges.
The Syndicate meeting was stormy with the issue of the construction of PG centre in Kolar taking up most of the time. Vice Chancellor Dr N Prabhu Dev's decision to appoint a oneman enquiry committee to look into irregularities in 16 construction projects taken up by the university also came under scanner and several members registered dissent as he did not send a letter to the Chief Justice of High Court for recommendation of a panel of judges to conduct an enquiry. However, sources said that the VC quoted the University Act and said he had powers to do so.Among other major decisions taken by the Syndicate, it has approved the recommendations of the Malpractices Enquiry Committee which is crucial to prevent the recurrence of various malpractice allegations.
