TED is a global phenomenon that focuses on “ideas worth spreading”. When it began in 1984 as a conference to bring together great minds from the technology, entertainment and design sectors, little did the founders know that it would go on to become one of the most exclusive, expensive and sought after conferences in the world. Having obtained the licence for TEDxYouth, 2011, here at Chennai, Karthick Sundar and his team organised the second version of the youth forum at Cognizant Technology Solutions, Thoraipakkam on Sunday. Speakers at all TED events are given a maximum of 18 minutes, within which they must convey their message. TED talks are always documented and some of the best talks are uploaded on TED.com. A TEDx is an independently organised TED event that that operates under the licensed team, but always sticks to the norms set by the TED conference. TEDxYouth is no different from a TEDx, the only difference being catering to a considerably younger audience and speakers. The audience mostly comprise of students, recent graduates and also potential future leaders. Like all other TED Conferences, this event was also a combination of both TED Talks and speakers.
