VISAKHAPATNAM: City police forcibly shifted two junior doctors, B D Prasad and M Phanindra of Andhra Medical College (AMC), on an indefinite hunger strike, to an intensive respiratory care unit (IRCU) of KGH on Saturday.However, junior doctor, V Kalyan is still continuing his hunger strike.It may be recalled that, four junior doctors, G Jeeveswar Rao, V Kalyan, B D Prasad and M Phanindra of AMC began an indefinite hunger strike in front of KGH on Tuesday, as part of a statewide agitation by AP Junior Doctors Association seeking hike and regularisation of their stipend, besides better medical infrastructure at various medical colleges in the city.Jeeveswar Rao was admitted into IRCU at KGH on Thursday.On Saturday, the condition of B D Prasad and M Phanindra deteriorated following which a team of experts under direction of superintendent of KGH, P Shyam Prasad examined the condition of all junior doctors.However, following suggestion of AMC and KGH, police forcibly admitted the duo at IRCU of KGH.Sources said that from sunday onwards, lady junior doctors of AMC will sit on an indefinite hunger strike as the state government has not taken any measures to resolve the issue.Junior doctors of AMC alleged that health minister, D L Ravindra Reddy is misleading people by stating that junior doctors are not keen to work in rural areas.The AMC doctors clarified that all junior doctors are ready to work in rural pockets if the government pays a good salary.The strike is also aimed at ensuring proper medical infrastructure in government hospitals, supply of quality medicines, provision of round-the-lock laboratories at medical colleges, they said.However, the government has been ignoring the legitimate demands and abandoning medical students and patients, said doctors
