New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) counsel has told the 2G Special Court that there was no irregularity in the granting of 2G licences to the Tata group.
This was in response to a petition by a Delhi lawyer seeking the Tatas and corporate lobbyist Nira Radia to be named accused in the 2G spectrum scam case.
The court is expected to pronounce its order on Thursday.
A lawyer on May 20 had approached a Delhi court seeking a direction to CBI to implead various other persons, including Reliance ADAG chairman Anil Ambani, Tata group chief Ratan Tata and corporate lobbyist Nira Radia, as accused in the 2G scam case.
"As far as 2G scam is concerned, the key role is played by Nira Radia, Ratan Tata, Anil Ambani ans Dayalu Ammal (wife of DMK chief M Karunanidhi). The truth will come out only by impleading them in the charge sheet," R Krishna Murthy, an advocate, told Special CBI Judge OP Saini.
The court had listed his application for hearing on May 30 after he submitted that CBI did not take any action on his representation on the issue.
The lawyer, a self-proclaimed crusader against corruption, said his application is filed under the Criminal Procedure Code seeking a direction to CBI to name them as accused.
