New Delhi: Three people died and three were injured in a stampede at the New Delhi railway station on Sunday night.

The incident happened when people rushed to board the New Delhi - Darbhanga Swatantrata Sainani express reports.

19-year-old Amit Mishra was to board the Dharbhanga bound Swatantrata Sainani express to attend his uncles wedding.

He ended up in Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia hospital with an injured arm. Mishra was one of the Swantratata Senani passengers who got crushed in the stampede.

"People were pushing and shoving from all directions. I somehow escaped but fractured my arm," said Amit.

In the platform number five of the New Delhi the cartons and packets are still being removed. Eyewitnesses told CNN-IBN that the cartons had blocked the platform completely leaving little space for the passengers to board the train.

Six passengers were involved. Three have died and three others are injured admitted to Rammanhoar Lohia hospital," says DRM, Delhi, Pradeep Kumar.

Bihar bound trains are generally overcrowded especially the unreserved compartments where migrant laborers compete with each other to grab a seat.

The incident is a reflection of how we manage passenger rushes in the unreserved compartments. This seems to be a repeat of the stampede, which broke out a few months ago during chat but thankfully this time it was on a much smaller scale.
