Udaipur: In yet another alarming case of foeticide in the span of one month in the city, an aborted female embryo was found under a bridge in the city, prompting the Rajasthan government to remove its chief medical and health officer and carry out extensive searches at local nursing homes.
After the female foetus was found under a bridge at the Ghumania Wallah Nullah here on Sunday, the state government removed the chief medical and health officer M S Yadav who is awaiting posting.
Police also swung into action, seizing the sonography machine of one Abha Maternity Home.

The government has also constituted a new team headed by the Additional Superintednent of Police Balmukund Verma for probing the matter.
The Inspector General of police Rajeev Dasat is supervising the investigation, officials said.
Three female foetuses were found floating in the Fateh Sagar lake here on August 2 and police conducted raids in several private nursing and maternity homes and sezied their records in this connection.
