KOLLAM: DySP Abdul Rasheed, arrested by the CBI in the journalist V B Unnithan attempt to murder case, was on Friday taken to the Kollam District Jail following the controversy over offering luxurious facilities to him at the Poojappura Central Prison. Ironically, it was something that Rasheed probably wished. The DySP was arrested by the CBI on April 16 and was send to the Ernakulam District Jail. He was then transferred to Poojappura Jail allegedly due to the interference of top officials in the Jail Department.Later, media reports said that Rasheed was moved to the jail’s hospital ward, with the influence of a top police officer, though he was not suffering from any aliment. The transfer to a jail in his home town is learnt to be something Rasheed himself wanted, even though district jail may lack the facilities of the Central Prison. Meanwhile, the CBI is not pleased with the move, as they feel that someone like Rasheed would have a chance to gain access to his acquaintances and influence the case while in his home town.
