Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will be visiting the riot-hit areas of Muzaffarnagar district on Sunday. He is expected to meet the family members of the riot victims.
Yadav will also be visiting family of Rajesh Verma, the journalist who was associated with our sister network IBN7 and who lost his life while reporting on the clashes.
While tensions have eased in Muzzarfarnagar after curfew had been relaxed for 12 hours on Saturday, the Chief Minister had been targeted by the opposition parties who had blamed the ruling Samajwadi party for lawlessness in the state. He had also been blamed for his inaction to control the communal violence which led to the loss of 48 lives.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is also likely to visit the violence-hit area on Monday. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi are also expected to visit the district next week.
