Organised by Shree Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha, the 49th Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava celebrated day eight on September 8 at APS college grounds, Basavanagudi.The evening began with Carnatic music by the famous vocalist TM Krishna.Krishna, known for his resonant voice and strict devotion to classicism, performed various popular compositions in its classical form.Some of the compositions include Yendaro, Bhaja Govindam and Bhajare Re Manasa among others.TM Krishna is one of the most prominent male Carnatic vocalists with an in-depth knowledge in Carnatic music.His concerts and performances are exhilarating and always leave the audience deeply touched.His performance was followed by the bhajan and ghazal Maestro Anup Jalota who fascinated the large audience that gathered at the Utsava.He sang some of his best Bhajans.Most of the audience members were singing with him as they were mesmerised by his voice and the music that completed the evening.Anup Jalota performed Laagi Lagan Meera Ho Gayi Magan, Jag Mein Sundar Hai Do Naam, Chahe Krishna Kaho Ya Ram and other soulful bhajans.He was accompanied by very talented Preety Bhalla who sang the upbeat track Damadam Mast Kalandar and a devotional song for Lord Ganesha ‘Eka Danta Vakrathundaya’.TM Krishna began singing at a young age as his mother was a Carnatic singer and his father was a music enthusiast.He trained under Chengalpet Ranganathan and late Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer for nearly eight years.Anup Jalota is known as the Bhajan Samrat and has released over 200 albums of Bhajan and Ghazals till date.He began his career on All India Radio as a chorus singer.Now, he has a troop of musician who plays for his performances.The instruments that are played are the santoor, dholak, violin, sitar, sarangi, tabla and a guitar.Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan performed live at the on September 9 at APS College Grounds, Basavanagudi.
