CHENNAI: For Giridharan, composing music has always been in him right from his childhood. But it took him 19 years to officially direct music and launch an album. Now, thanks to a divine call from the head priest of a temple in Alappuzha, Kerala, he felt motivated him to compose Ayappan songs, which he launched  this year. CEO of EdServ, Manachanallur, S Giridharan launched his devotional music album titled Ayyan Malai Engal Malai,  on Tuesday in the city. Written, composed and produced by Giridharan, the album has some spiritually melodious and soothing numbers. At a time when everyone is looking to reach out to the public with fast beat numbers or remixes, Giridharan has stuck to his own style of compositions which have a classical touch to them. “I want my music to be purely dedicated to all Ayyapan devotees. The music is melodious and divine. I'm not here to commercialise my music, but to create divinity at homes,” explains Giridharan. The music album is a compilation of 10 songs, out of which seven have been rendered by the renowned carnatic classical musician P Unnikrishnan. Giridharan has also added the composer's touch to the album by singing two songs in the album. Says he, “Each song has a suitable raga in it. I have followed the basic structure where the first song is dedicated to Lord Vinayaka and the album ends with Harivarasanam.”Some of the songs from the album include Mahishimardhanane, Maamanikanda, Malaivazh Arase, Malayalam Kudigonda, Yezhai Pangala and Kanaga Enaikkatharulvai. At the event, singer Unnikrishnan received the first copy of the album from music director Vidyasagar. The music CD is available across all leading music outlets in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. For details, contact: 98400 12534.
