One of her many hobbies from childhood, it is dance that is bringing bags full of happiness to television actor Anjori Alagh right now. For someone who ran out of her first-ever dance class in disdain, Anjori is now all set to shake a leg on the latest reality show to appear on TV – Nachle Ve. She says, “As a kid, my mother (actor Maya Alagh) enrolled me in dance classes. First I tried Bharatnatyam and then ballet but I ran out of both the places on the first day itself. So, you can say I dabbled in dance but now I love it.”
What made Anjori, who has never participated in a dance show before, sign the dotted lines? The young actor pauses and then replies, “They were looking for television people to participate in Nachle Ve. Plus, I had always wanted to dance with Saroj Khan. The show has a simple format. It was a lot of fun.”
Anjori who did a short stint on another show, on the same channel was excited to be participating in a reality show. Though, she feels that a lot of Indian reality shows these days are blatant copies of those in the West, her new show promises to be quite different. She explains, “This show is about not just people performing. It is for people who cannot attend dance classes or who want to learn dance. One need not be a trained dancer to come on the show. You can learn to dance step by step here.”
In fact, Anjori seems to be watching a few reality shows on TV, especially those related to cooking. She laughs and says, “I like to stick to watching cookery shows on TV. So whether it is MasterChef Australia, Top Chef or MasterChef India, she loves them all because of the wonderful local flavours seen in them. And while Anjori says one day, se sure would want to host a reality show herself, she is quite fond of Rakhi Ka Insaaf. She quips, “It is really very funny to watch.”
