Anti-Defection: 4 members disqualified

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Election Commissioner K Sasidharan Nair disqualified one member of the Kulanada Grama Panchayat and three former members for violating the anti-defection law.Anil Koshi, member of ward no 5, and former members Mercy Raju, Harikumar and Thomas Cheriyan were disqualified based on a complaint filed by former member of the panchayat G Raghunath.The four members had won on a Congress ticket to the previous council, but ignored the party whip and supported a no-confidence motion against the panchayat president, a Congress party candidate, with the support of the LDF and the BJP. All four have been banned from contesting the local body elections for six years.
