Srikakulam: A girl was allegedly molested and her boyfriend beaten up by two miscreants on Bhavanapadu beach near Srikakulam two days ago, police said.
The victims, both students of an engineering college near Tekkali, had gone for an outing on the beach on Saturday evening when two miscreants objected to them sitting in a compromising state.
The miscreants allegedly tried to strip the girl and tied the boy to a tree and beat him up.
The girl ran for help and was rescued by the Bhavanapadu villagers who rushed to the beach and also saved the boy from the clutches of the miscreants, identified as Durvasulu and Ravi, and handed them to police.
According to police, a case has been registered based on the complaint of the villagers and the two accused have been detained.
