Arrangements for PMs Karaikudi visit reviewed

MADURAI: Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) S George on Wednesday reviewed the security arrangements for the ensuing visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Karaikudi.The PM will be visiting Karaikudi on December 26 (Monday) to inaugurate the building for Dr Ramanujam Centre for Higher Mathematics at Alagappa University and a unit of the Apollo Hospital and Vasan Eye Care at Karaikudi.ADGP George held discussions with the Ramanathapuram Range Deputy Inspector General of Police Sandeep Mittal and Sivaganga Superintendent of Police M Paneerselvam regarding the security arrangements. Singh’s flight is scheduled to land at the Tiruchy airport in the noon. From there he will fly down to the university by a helicopter. After landing at the helipad constructed inside the university around 3 pm, he would address students and faculty members at the Dr Ramanujam Centre for Higher Mathematics. Later, he would travel to Managiri by road (a distance of around 10 km) to inaugurate a unit of the Apollo Hospital and Vasan Eye Care Hospital.The ADGP first reviewed the security arrangements at the Tiruchy airport and later surveyed all the areas where the Prime Minister would visit. Governor K Rosaiah will also participate in the function.
